Topsy Labs is seeking a Site Reliability Manager for its Kalamazoo operation.
Job Description
Topsy Labs is building the world's largest realtime search and analytics engine for the social web. It is a well-funded and fast growing technology company that is poised at the intersection of big data, search and social.
The primary responsibility of the Site Reliability Manager is to manage and oversee the operations associated with managing Topsy's 24 x 7 Site Reliability Team providing end-to-end support for Topsy's mission critical large scale Infrastructure and application stack.
The team monitors and troubleshoots technical issues.
Successful candidate will have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, coaching and mentoring individual contributors, knowledge of Unix / Linux systems management and handling large scale online environments, be able to quickly assess, analyze, and resolve site incidents in a fast paced environment, excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to interact effectively with engineering and other operations teams.
The position will require 24x7 on-call escalation duty.
Some travel required.
Desired Skills and Experience
• Experience managing a staff of technical personnel, setting a work schedule and achieving organizational goals
• Experience training groups and individuals in complex technical concepts and procedures
• Excellent technical writing skills and ability to maintain operations documentation
• Excellent verbal communication and ability describe complex technical concepts
• Experience interfacing with senior management, internal stakeholders, customers and vendors
• Experience managing Linux systems in a 24/7 production environment
• Experience with Apache, MySQL, DNS
• Knowledge of TCP/IP networking
• Ability to script in Python, Perl, Ruby or PHP required
• Bachelors Degree (preferred) in CS, CIS or equivalent
Bonus Points:
• Knowledge of C/C++, Java and SQL
• Knowledge of Hadoop, HDFS, Hbase, Map/Reduce
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS
• Experience with IT and office productivity technology
