MPI is seeking a Scientist in Immunology for its company headquarters in Mattawan, Mich.
 
Responsibilities

This person who accepts this position is responsible for the development of new in vitro and ex vivo assays and for the evaluation of new methodologies, as well as for various practical applications, including record-keeping and equipment handling.

Duties and Responsibilities – purpose of the function and result to be accomplished) include but are not limited to those listed:

•  Develop new assays.

•  Evaluate new methodologies and technologies to increase efficiency and streamline work processes.

•  Train other laboratory personnel in these new assays / methods.

•  Support the daily operation, monitoring, and calibration of the equipment and software used for immunotoxicology analysis.

•  Assist in sample preparation for flow cytometric analysis, tissue culture, and assessment and analysis of the results obtained, as necessary.

•  Generally maintain the laboratory.

•  Prepare purchase orders for management review.

•  Properly document data and training- or other, related records.

•  Interact with Study Directors and / or Sponsors, focusing on scientific and technical feasiblity of existing laboratory capabilities and implementation of new assays and techniques, as required.

•  Completes all assigned events in validated system, 100 percent of the time.

•  Punctual and reliable attendance according to MPI Research company policy.

Qualifications

•  MS in relevant field and 5 years in specialty; or

•  BS in relevant field and 9 years in specialty; or

•  HS / GED and 12 years in specialty.

•  Significant training in modern immunological methods, including ELISA, ECLA (electrochemiluminescence),Meso-Scale Discovery (MSD), ligand binding, and internalization assays, MLR and NK assays.

•  Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques, including reagent preparation, in vitro cell culture techniques, steriletechniques, molecular biology, and basic chemistry.

•  Demonstrated knowledge in basic research principles with a broad understanding of biological processes.

•  Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment, to solve research-related problems, andimplement new technologies.

•  Working knowledge of Excel, Word and other basic software packages.

•  Good oral and written communication abilities, and strong organizational skills.

•  Experience with flow cytometry is highly desirable.

•  Computer skills, commensurate with Essential Functions and including ability to learn a validated system.

•  Ability to work extended hours beyond normal work schedule to include, but not limited to, evenings, weekends,extended shifts and/or extra shifts, sometimes on short notice.

•  Ability to work under specific time constraints.
