The Getman Corp. of Bangor, Mich., is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer. This is a full-time position at the mid-senior level in manufacturing.
Job Description
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:
Be part of continuous improvement process in Operations by helping to drive improvement in the supply chain.
Create the reporting structure that enables this improvement process.
Support the Quality Control team in their effort to meet Department goals and Job related expectations by dealing with supplier issues that put a strain on building Getman trucks.
Work directly with the Engineering, Purchasing and Operations departments to improve the quality and ease of manufacturing Getman supplied parts.
Work with suppliers to maintain Getman Welding Standards and Procedures as developed by our Quality Control Supervisor.
Work closely with the Manufacturing Managers and Assembly manager to establish a reporting structure for issues and an open regular communication line that will help continually improve our supplier quality in turn improving our internal quality.
Create reports to monthly demonstrate improved quality and other continuous improvement with our supply base to the Director of Operations.
Work with Purchasing to help achieve cost targets with suppliers. This person will not negotiate pricing with a supplier but can aide purchasing in this role.
Work with Purchasing and Accounting to achieve a formal process where Getman can accurately charge back suppliers for issues that directly affect us. Work with suppliers to eliminate issues like these from reaching us. Require and review formal problem solving from suppliers to avoid future quality issues.
Work with Engineering to address specification issues that may result from suppliers.
Be the key Getman contact for current supplier part related issues.
Work with the Director of Operations and President to seek out new sources for supplied parts.
Travel as necessary to suppliers to maintain relationships and or handle quality issues that may arise.
Other duties may be assigned.
