Kalamazoo Community Foundation has two openings, one as a Community Investment Assistant and a second as a Receptionist and Office Assistant.

COMMUNITY INVESTMENT ASSISTANT
 
The Kalamazoo Community Foundation’s Community Investment Team supports the foundaitons mission by leading our responsive grantmaking program, initiatives and other community leadership activities.
 
Community Investment Assistant: Kalamazoo Community Foundation is currently looking for an energetic person with top-notch customer service and administrative skills to provide support to this team in a variety of ways. The Community Investment Assistant also needs to thrive on frequent interaction with staff, members of our board, committees, and the community.
 
Supports Community Investment staff
• General clerical and administrative responsibilities including updating daily calendars, scheduling appointments, routing internal mail, and files and processes materials.
 
Supports community investment projects and initiatives related to program priorities.
• Assists with meeting preparation including materials, notebooks, coordinating details, planning/ordering refreshments and room set-up/breakdown.
• Organizes central filing location for reference materials and maintains program references including best practice research related to initiatives.
 
Supports the Learning Network of Greater Kalamazoo
• Coordinates and assists with meeting preparation including materials, notebooks,coordinating details, planning/ordering refreshments and room set-up/breakdown.
• Compiles post event evaluation and follow-up, such as event expense reports o radditional mailings.
• Provides general administrative support for the Learning Network.
• Compiles and manages data and coordinates communication of information withinternal and external partners.
• Organizes central filing location for reference materials and maintains program references including best practice research related to initiatives.
 
Required
• Associates degree in business or related field or an equivalent combination of training and relevant work experience.
• Two to four years of progressively more responsible experience in an office environment.
• Strong verbal/written communication skills.
• Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
 
Preferred
• Coursework in communications, social work, sociology, and/or psychology. 
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, volunteers, event planning, and data base reporting.

RECEPTIONIST/OFFICE ASSISTANT
 
Receptionist/Office Assistant: The Kalamazoo Community Foundation is looking for a positive, high-energy person to help create an outstanding Community Foundation experience by providing great customer service to our internal team, people who call our office, and visitors to the Kalamazoo Community Foundation. The duties are varied and the Receptionist/Office Assistant may juggle many responsibilities.
 
Major responsibilities: Creates a comfortable and welcoming atmosphere at the Community Foundation:
• Opens and closes the office, answers and forwards phone calls, greets guests and maintains the office areas.
• Serves as the initial contact for staff regarding IT support, assisting with equipment as needed and answering IT related questions or referring questions to IT consultant. 
• Coordinates Reception Team to insure front desk coverage during working hours.
• Maintains the Community Foundation filing system.
• Contact for office equipment and office supplies.
• Assists the Finance and Administration team.

• Ability to work both independently and in a team.
 
Education and Experience
• Associate’s degree in business or related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Two to four years of progressively more responsible experience.
• Experience using a variety of computer technologies, especially spreadsheet programs.
• Previous experience in community foundation or nonprofit organizations preferred.
