Yooper Shirts finds new home

Central U.P. T-shirt business Yooper Shirts is moving and expanding after only a few months of business.

Previously located inside the west Ishpeming Shell station, the new storefront is now neighbors to the also-newly-moved Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce, on U.S. 41 in front of Jubilee Foods.

Yooper Shirts officially opened at the new location Oct. 3, and now is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, says owner Jeremy Symons.

The increase in retail space and visibility for the business has meant they've changed some of their retail locations as well, since Yooper Shirts products are sold at several retailers locally.

Besides the new U.S. 41 shop, they are available at the Marquette Regional History Center and Redfella Records in Marquette, online at MIUpperHand.com, and in Grand Marais at Grand Marais Outfitters. And t-shirts aren't the only thing the company makes.

"Yooper Shirts also offers a variety of graphic design services such as apparel design, logos and identity, websites, print advertising, business cards, menus, posters, wedding invites and custom screen printing," says Symons.
