The
Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce has a new home, one that should be familiar to western Marquette County residents. It will now be located on U.S. 41 in front of
Jubilee Foods in Ishpeming.
Chamber director Elizabeth Peterson says the new home will allow the Chamber, in its second year, to grow more, and serve its more than 160 members more efficiently. It's first home was at the
U.S. Ski Hall of Fame in Ishpeming, but moving to an independent, highly visible location has perks like better signage, and more room to showcase members.
"The businesses and communities in the west end are top notch, and have been very supportive this past year. It's only right that we feature them to residents and tourists in the best possible way. We have so many great ideas for this new space and I look forward to working with our amazing board and members to make them happen," she says.
Another bonus is an on-site conference room for meetings, available to chamber members for their use as well.
Peterson thanked two members of the chamber in particular for their work on the new home. Executive board member Paul Bonetti and board member Scott Patrick of
Carpet Specialists Carpet One Floor & Home, who together created a layout plan for the building.
The chamber will host a grand opening on Oct. 4.
