Dream Paths offers opportunity for those in transition

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Times of change come to everyone’s life. Sometimes those can lead to transitions — ready or not.

A workshop designed to guide people who are at key transition points in their lives as they try to make decisions about the new directions they want to take is being offered by George Martin, of The Arcadia Institute.

Dream Paths is for those who want to re-enter the workforce, to change careers to find one that better suits them, or someone pulled to pursue a dream or project they have been unable to start on their own.

The sessions will cover: defining your dream; figuring out your path; building a support system and moving toward your dream. Each session will include individual and small group work. The whole group will exchange ideas and support one another during the sessions.

Within 60 days of the workshop, there will be a follow-up session in which participants will report where their paths have led them. An individual coaching session with Martin also will be available.

The workshop is for those with a dream “who want support and a boost from others as they move toward it,” Martin says.

Martin has led leadership development workshops over the past 15 years and served as an advocate for people with disabilities for more than 32 years. He is president of The Arcadia Institute, an organization dedicated to finding ways for people with disabilities to participate fully in the community as they wish.

There will be an organizing session on from 7 to 8:30 p.m. April 14. The group will subsequently meet on three Saturday morning sessions from 8:30 a.m. to noon. The meetings dates are April 16, May 7, and May 21 at 900 Peeler Street. The cost for the workshop is $175. Registration is due April 8. For further details, contact Martin by e-mail or by calling  269-873-4734.
