Lawrence Dolph has been a business consultant since the late 1980s, but really started to find his niche in when he launched RFD Insight in 2004.
"I noticed companies would focus more on sales but have poor margins," says Lawrence Dolph, founder & managing director of
RFD Insight. "I thought I could be successful if I put together a team that can raise sales and margins."
The Ann Arbor-based company now has two principals and large stable of independent contractors that is consistently draws upon. That team helps start-ups with their product development and marketing. It has made a big push for growth in recent years by helping companies with their social media and search engine optimization strategies.
Dolph sees social media and digital marketing in general as a way for companies to emphasize their tradition marketing efforts, such as events or video. "It's an amplification device," Dolph says.
