Edington Associates is growing and adding new people, including a former Pfizer employee.
The Ann Arbor-based company specializes in helping companies facilitate healthy, high-performing workplaces and work-forces. The company's founder, Dee W. Edington, recently wrote a book called "Zero Trends: Health as a Serious Economic Strategy," which he turned into a business a year ago.
"The healthier the company, the more money they make," Edington says.
Edington Associates now employs five people and a intern at the University of Michigan's Venture Accelerator on the former Pfizer campus. It recently hired Duane Putnam as vice president of business development after Putnam spend 30 years working for Pfizer. Edington is now looking for business partners to help grow his company.
Edington Associates works with it customers to make sure they are proactive when it comes to their employee's health. The idea is that tackling a health problem early saves time, money and number of other valuable resources that in turn help grow the company. Edington says his firm needs about three years to execute its plan and become a healthier, more sustainable workplace.
