EMU students work with Google to increase Web site traffic for non-profits

The University of Michigan might be THE reason Google is setting up its AdWords headquarters in Ann Arbor, but the Maize and Blue don't have a monopoly on the Internet search giant. Students from nearby Eastern Michigan University are also working with Google to find ways to drive more Internet traffic to Web sites.

In a new kind of class experiment, students at Eastern Michigan University are working with Google to drive Web site traffic to five southeast Michigan non-profits. Working in conjunction with a Google grant program that donates AdWords space to organizations, EMU business students are trying to maximize the number of times the organizations' ads appears when an Internet user types in a related search.
