Fraser Bicycle opens new store in Ann Arbor

What was once old is new again when it comes to bicycle sales in Ann Arbor now that Fraser Bicycle is opening a store in Tree Town.

The Fraser-based bicycle retailer took over the old Two Wheel Tango space at 3162 Packard earlier this year and turned it into its newest store. The doors opened last weekend and the company's leadership wants its first customers to notice one thing as soon as they walk through the door.

"A completely remodeled retail space," says Ron Schmid, general manager of Fraser Bicycle.

Fraser Bicycle got its start in 1967. It now has three locations across Metro Detroit with the Ann Arbor store as its newest store. Schmid said moving into the Ann Arbor market made sense because of the longstanding popularity of bicycling in the college town.

The new Ann Arbor store employs six people. They are working in a space that was thoroughly renovated. The updates include new lighting, fixtures, floors, and many of the everyday things people take for granted until they stop working as intended. The store sells bikes that are as cheap as $400 and as expensive as $15,000.

"The entire interior was redone," Schmid says. "It's almost boutiquey. There is a section for ladies, a mountain-biking section, and a hydration section."
