I moved to Lansing with my wife who is a grad student at MSU. Before moving here from the DC area, I was a bit apprehensive about living in the Rust Belt. However, I have come to love Michigan's natural beauty and the local DIY ethic. For two years I worked for a great company in Ann Arbor, but resented the commute. I found a position with Brighter Planet as a Ruby developer helping to build a cloud-based carbon emissions calculation service. I work with a team distributed across the country. I love being able to work with a product idea I'm passionate about with technology I love -- and to do it from wherever I want.
