District Square wraps up for the season, but that doesn’t mean it’s closed

When the weather outside is frightful, what’s an outdoor venue to do?

The Reedy Corp. in downtown Kalamazoo is embracing the season of winter by wrapping up District Square in an all-new glass exterior.

District Square becomes Arctic Square.

It will keep out the cold without blocking the view of the courtyard.

Just outside will be a 50-foot diameter inflatable igloo. The Igloo is completely enclosed and heated. It offers diverse menu options and a variety of entertainment choices for up to 200 people.

Meanwhile, Arctic Square’s upper deck will be completely enclosed and the lower bar level will also be open. It’s adjacent to Wild Bull Saloon and will offer full access to the outdoor areas.

When it opened this summer, District Square became the fourth venue in the block of East Michigan Avenue between Pitcher and Edwards streets to be offered by Reedy Corp. There’s dancing and stand-up room in the venue that allows patrons to freely move into Wild Bull Saloon.

The Entertainment District also includes Monaco Bay Piano Bar and Grill, Wild Bull Saloon & Steakpit and the SkyDeck (which is closed for the season).

Each of the venues has its own unique features and menu.

The company hopes to entice holiday party planners to host their events in the seaonally themed venues.
