LSSU marks the end of winter with flaming snowman

It's a little different than the famous "Burning Man" festival held on another coast, but it's certainly still a joyous occasion each year when LSSU celebrates the arrival of spring with a burning snowman.

Excerpt: Winter has had its yearly fiery farewell in the eastern Upper Peninsula, with the burning of the snowman on the campus of Lake Superior State University.

The 14-foot snowman went up in flames Friday at the school in Sault Ste. Marie, drawing hundreds of students and other celebrants.
