You may have heard about this or that state or national business plan competition, but did you know there's one just for U.P. entrepreneurs?
The UPWard Initiative Business Plan Competition is open to residents of any Upper Peninsula county, plus Marinette and Florence counties in northern Wisconsin. New business ideas as well as new ideas from existing businesses will compete for startup seed money, mentoring services and marketing.
While the cash and prizes may draw some entries, the chance for constructive feedback on business plans and help making a dream reality also is at stake.
The call for entries is open until November 1, and the award will be presented in January 2013 at the Operation Action U.P. annual meeting. It's all part of the UPWard Initiative, which brings together public and private sector leaders to sustain and build the U.P.'s regional economy.
