Don Woodhams, of South Haven, has chaired the South Haven Area Regional Airport board for 26 years, most of the board's existence.
The retired owner of the South Haven car dealership that still bears his family name says in a Herald-Palladium story that his interest is only natural since his father turned the family farm into an airport.
Since 1982, more than $4.8 million in improvements have been done to the South Haven Area Regional Airport. But only $899,749 came from the airport authority's local funds.

MDOT (Michigan Department of Transportation) considers it one of the best small airports in Michigan. The runway is completely done, and we now have GPS approaches. The board's been very supportive.
