Where do you think "Up North" starts?

Excerpt: Up North begins around Clare, as in the saying, “North of Clare, nobody cares,” a more polite version than the one using DeWitt. But the real Up North begins when the tollbooths at the Mackinac Bridge are cleared and the car is pointed west on U.S.-2, M-28 or headed to Canada.
