According to an article in the Traverse City Record-Eagle, Northwestern Michigan College is looking to get some land to add student housing. Does this mean expanded enrollment? Continued growth in class offerings? In our opinion, the growth of NMC can only be a good thing.
Excerpt: City commissioners will consider a request from Northwestern Michigan College to sell 3.8 acres of city-owned property to create enough student housing for 300 beds.
College officials want to site three apartment buildings on the eastern side of their driveway entrance off Eastern Avenue. Their property backs to an 11-acre parcel that holds the city's water treatment plant and NMC officials would like push their ownership another 180 feet east into a wooded portion of the city's lot.
