Local farmers expect big apple crop

Last year was terrible for apples in Michigan, but this year will be nothing like it, thankfully.

Excerpt: Unlike last year, local apple growers won’t be walking along rows of barren trees.

Because of high temperatures, followed by a late frost the majority of Michigan’s crop was killed last year. Only 2.7 million bushels were produced, compared to the 20 million state average, said Diane Smith, executive director of the Michigan Apple Committee.
