Midland Young Professionals Program expands membership and community impact

The Midland Business Alliance is continuing its mission to build up the community and support young professionals and entrepreneurs through its Midland Young Professionals program.

The MYPros program, which accepts individuals between the ages of 20 and 40, provides a variety of resources to help members with networking, professional development, and community involvement through scheduled events.

By connecting young professionals with one another, MYPros fosters collaboration, strengthens local businesses, and supports the continued growth of Midland.
While MYPros is based in Midland, the program welcomes anyone who works or spends time in the city to join and become involved in the community.

“MYPros began because of a need for a space for young professionals to get together, share experiences, network, and foster an overall investment in the future of Midland,” says Joe Sira, marketing and program specialist for the Midland Business Alliance.

“Now, many years later, MYPros is still growing with enhanced programming and more opportunities available. Our region has no shortage of awesome young professionals.”

Since its creation, MYPros has been a catalyst for positive change, with the program’s crowdfunding initiative having raised over $200,000 to support local businesses and community projects.

The Midland Business Alliance recently announced the winners of its 2024 crowdfunding campaign: Allied Group Fitness and Proper Taco. Previous recipients of the funding include local favorites such as Pizza Baker, Aviator Cookie, Grove Tea Lounge, Aster, Three Bridges Distillery & Taproom, and Nor'East Outdoors.

The past year was not only another successful year for crowdfunding, but also a milestone for MYPros in terms of membership growth. Over 100 new members joined in 2024, bringing the program’s total membership to approximately 300. This surge in membership is accredited to the dedication and planning that has gone into the program, making members feel valued and welcomed.

“This MYPros group is full of so many talented, passionate, and friendly members that make you instantly feel welcome,” Sira says. “Whether you want to grow your networking circle, meet new friends and hang out, grow professionally, or be more involved in your community, MYPros is the right group for you. I love Midland, I’ve lived here my whole life, and I feel more connected to my community now than ever before after joining MYPros in December.”

In 2025, MYPros will continue its growth. Already this year, 12 new members have signed up, signaling another strong year ahead. The MBA is excited about what’s to come and has big plans for the future of the program. They aim to add even more professional development opportunities and increase the number of events to help members deepen their connection to Midland and the program.

“With the leadership and knowledge of our 2025 MYPros Chair, Kevin LaDuke, and our dedicated steering committee, MYPros is set to become even better this year, with potential new programming, perks, and more!” Sira explains.

The MYPros program isn’t just about networking; it’s about creating a community where young professionals can connect with one another, support local businesses, and grow both personally and professionally. With the continued expansion of events, resources, and opportunities, MYPros is helping its members thrive while also making a lasting impact on Midland.

MYProsThe upcoming events calendar for MYPros includes 20 scheduled activities for 2025, and it’s clear that the program is gearing up for another busy year. One of the first events is a PerkUp! networking session, taking place from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Jan. 31 at Live Oak Coffeehouse.

There is also a MYPros Pinball Tournament scheduled for Feb. 5 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Brinstar Arcade, Bar and Grill, providing members with a more laid-back way to connect with one another.

For anyone interested in joining MYPros or learning more about the program, information can be found on the Midland Business Alliance website, where the MYPros application is available. Those interested can also follow the MYPros Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn for updates on upcoming events and opportunities.

If you’re not sure whether the program is right for you, the MBA encourages potential members to attend some of the program’s free events. It’s a great way to experience Midland’s community and see if MYPros feels like a good fit.

“If you are on the fence, I truly suggest that you just come to a couple events and see how it is,” says Sira. “We'd love to have you.”

Whether you’re hoping to grow in your career, make new friends, or get involved in the growing community, MYPros offers something for everyone—and it’s only getting better in 2025.
