Shelterhouse Resale, located at 1830 N. Saginaw Rd., is more than just a thrift store. Every purchase directly funds Shelterhouse, a nonprofit dedicated to assisting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. From clothing for all ages to household goods, accessories, and shoes, the store offers something for everyone while every sale makes an impact.

The care Shelterhouse puts into its mission is reflected in the store itself. Clean, well-organized, and staffed by friendly employees, it’s an inviting space for shoppers to browse. Donations arrive daily, offering a constantly updated selection. Even more treasures can be found through their online shop.

If you’re interested in giving instead of buying, Shelterhouse Resale is always in need of specific donations. “Our scrubs and maternity sections are usually empty. We can always use good kitchen items,” shares cashier Kiri. “We’ll always take toiletries and twin bedding for the actual house.”

Goodwill Industries

For more than 90 years, Goodwill Industries of Mid-Michigan has been a key part of the thrift shopping experience in Michigan. Located at 2030 N. Saginaw Rd., this store has a large selection of second-hand items, including clothing, books, household goods, electronics, and much more. The store is spacious and well-organized, making it easy for shoppers to find what they need.

Holiday shopping at Goodwill not only stretches your wallet but supports their mission of helping people find jobs and become independent.

Located at 3128 Jefferson Ave., What Goes Around Comes Around began with two local moms frustrated by how quickly their kids outgrew new clothes. Today, the consignment store offers high-quality, gently used clothing for women and children, along with household goods and accessories.

Shoppers appreciate the store’s affordability and frequent sales. “I really like their dollar section,” says customer Nat Chadwell. “They have lots of sales too, which helps anyone struggling to get by or just looking for a deal.”

The Salvation Army Thrift Store

At 825 S. Saginaw Rd., the Salvation Army Thrift Store offers a wide range of affordable goods, including clothing, furniture, toys, and household items. Proceeds from the store directly support the Salvation Army’s programs, which include food assistance, shelter, and other essential services for those in need.

The store is organized and frequently restocked, making it a reliable stop for shoppers seeking both practical and unique items. By shopping or donating here, you’re helping the Salvation Army provide resources to local families all year long.
