With the holidays upon us, here are several festive, fun and family-friendly events you can find in and around Midland. If you’re not in the holiday spirit already, these options are sure to do the trick.
Dow Gardens Christmas Walk
On December 14 &15 illuminated pathways are yours for the strolling from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. each evening. You can meet Santa's reindeer, and take in the sights of the season and there is no admission.

Winter at Whiting Forest
Whiting Forest is just as pretty in the winter. Take a tour of the 54 acres in the snow and wander through the 1,400 feet long canopy walk. Winter and spring hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. and you can find more information here.

A Tour of Christmas Past – The Pines of Dow Gardens
On December 20 & 21 The Pines of Dow Gardens will be featuring a special holiday tour.
This event is at capacity, but you can still enjoy the decorations of the former home of Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow on one of the weekly tours, as the home will still be decorated throughout the month of December. You can find tour information here.
Chill out in the new igloo at WhichCraft Taproom
Enjoy the outdoors without the cold temperatures in the new heated igloo at Whichcraft Taproom. Situated on the back patio all winter long, this is a great spot to grab a drink outside.The new igloo at WhichCraft Taproom in Downtown Midland.

Santa House in Downtown Midland
A holiday staple in Downtown Midland for kids of all ages, be sure to get a stop in to talk to the big red guy this holiday season. You can find the Santa House schedule here.
Toboggan Run and sledding hill at City Forest
The two 0.11 long tracks of the City Forest Toboggan Run ($8 rental) and the sledding hill ($4 sled rental for two hours) provide endless hours of cheap fun and entertainment for all ages. Catch a show at Midland Center for the Arts
December 15: The Center Stage Choir presents Jingle: A Holiday Extravaganza
Over 200 singers from the Center will be performing in the Holiday musical event of the Great Lakes Bay Region! At the event the Salvation Army will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for their annual toy drive.
Through December 16: A Christmas Carol
This original adaptation of Charles Dickens’ holiday classic breathes fresh life into everyone’s favorite Christmas ghost story by reimagining the characters in the modern world.
December 18: Boston Brass Christmas Bells Concert
For 30 years, Boston Brass has used its unique brand of entertainment featuring lively repartee, touched with humor and personality, to bridge the ocean of classical formality and delight audiences in an evening of great music and boisterous fun. On December 18, The Brass All-Stars Big Band joins the original Boston Brass quintet for fiery and swinging arrangements of classic Stan Kenton holiday tunes like “White Christmas,” and “The Christmas Song.”
The Lavender Fleece Farm & Studio
Just a few miles outside of Midland you’ll find handmade goods, pottery and plenty of lavender items. Tour the farm and pop in to the gift shop for unique gifts at the The Lavender Fleece Farm & Studio. It is fun to walk around and see some of the rare and heritage sheep breeds the farm keeps for wool and other products available for sale in the store.
