Lovers of trails, wildlife and outdoor education in the Midland area can rest assured that their favorite environmental nonprofit is on steady financial ground.
That’s because Chippewa Nature Center has been awarded a grant from The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation to support operations over three years from 2018 to 2020.
“Chippewa Nature Center is an incredible resource for environmental education and recreation for residents of the Great Lakes Bay Region and beyond.” says Macauley Whiting, Jr., President of The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow Foundation, in a press release. “We are proud to support this non-profit organization to improve the quality of life for us all.”
The grant will help support environmental education programs for thousands of visitors annually from throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and around the state of Michigan.
CNC offers programs including school and scout programs, courses, field trips, workshops, public programs, guest speakers, annual events, Nature Day Camp and Nature Preschool. CNC also offers 19 miles of trails, a Visitor Center with interactive exhibits, and 1,200 acres for visitors to explore and learn about the natural world, free of charge. The mission of CNC is to connect all people with nature through educational, recreational and cultural experiences.
