Central Michigan University earned high marks in the Clean Commute Challenge recently, snagging a first-place finish for some innovative and environmentally-considerate thinking.

The Clean Commute Challenge is held by the Capital Area Transportation Authority to see which campus uses the most environmentally sound ways to get around.
CMU had 46 percent of all the clean commute logs in the competition. It was a record in the competition and doubled last year's total of all competing schools combined, according to CMU's competition leader, Grandville senior Bryce Vredevoogd.
