Ypsilanti auto supplier Daimay North America to move operations to Redford Township

Ypsi-based auto supplier is is moving and consolidating to Redford Township.

Ypsilanti-based auto supplier Daimay North America Inc. plans to move and consolidate its three operations in the United States into a recently purchased industrial site in Redford.

Daimay, which manufactures sun visors, headrests, steering wheels and seating assemblies, purchased a facility with about 200,000 square feet of industrial space and about 15,000 square feet of office space in Redford last month.

After renovations, Daimay plans to consolidate about 30 to 40 engineers and other white collar employees and as many as 60 hourly workers at the Redford site beginning in the first quarter, making it the company's permanent home, according to CEO Jay Wang.
