Home Depot donates $7,000 for Rochester bio pond project

Dozens of Home Depot employees volunteered their time Aug. 4 to help install a bio pond along the Clinton River, near Rochester’s newest public parking lot on Diversion Street.

Aside from the labor and supplies, the big box conglomerate also donated 60 plants and two park benches for the project. It’s what they like to call giving back to their communities and the Earth.

"We're pretty excited about it," said Rochester City Manager Jaymes Vettraino. "During Earth Day Fest (in April), we got hooked up with Home Depot, which was looking to do a project in association with Earth Day in Rochester. They paid the hard cost of $7,000 to install the bio pond and are providing all the labor."
