Oakland County Summer Arts Project

Stay in touch with the arts this summer as kids create special art projects in one of three themes. All artwork will be displayed in one-hour art exhibits at Arts, Beats & Eats on Labor Day Weekend with work showcased in front of thousands of festival guests.

Prizes will be announced, including a $50 Savings Bonds from Flagstar Bank as well as gift certificates from local businesses. There will be five prizes per age group. And top works of art will be displayed at Oakland Schools and Oakland County Executive Offices in September. All participants will recieve a special treat for their entire family while at Arts, Beats & Eats.

Deatils for the program:

  • All Oakland County students ages 6-12 as of September 4, 2009
  • 2-D and 3-D work in any medium acceptable
  • Participation is FREE
  • Kids will be given a 2' by 2' table space to exhibit and may creat up to four pieces of art as long as all work fits into allotte space. Participants may choose from any of the following themes to create their work:
    • What's Great About Michigan
    • Aimals, Nautre or the Environment
    • Pop Culture: Movies, TV, Computer Games and more (No violence, please)
  • Kids must be present to exhibit their artwork at the festival and can choose from general time periods to exhbit
  • Parents may assist kids with materials and hands-on coaching, but should not actuallly touch or directly work on the project.
  • Arts, Beats & Eats will only display kids' first names, hometowns, and ages
  • Arts project limited to first 2,000 kids who reserve a space, so reserve early!
Also:
No pieces framed with glass, traced pieces or work from coloring books. Kids must create original work during the summer and may not use previously created art work.

To reserve a space for participants email info@artsbeatseats.com (Subject line: Oakland County Arts Project) or call 248-334-4600 and provide one parent's full name, student's name, email address, phone number and Oakland County School child will be attending in Fall 2009. Registration deadline is July 15, but reserve a space today to ensure participation.
