Elmore Leonard, author of "Get Shorty," "Jackie Brown" and "3:10 to Yuma," is recognized as a Grand Master by the Mystery Writers of America. But this Oakland County-based author's latest work hits a bit closer to home.
From Nov. 11-13, Leonard will host the Elmore Leonard Literary Arts and Film Festival at Birmingham's Community House. From a presentation on short films to advice on selling a screenplay to Hollywood, Leonard's assembled an A-list panel of celebrities to help Detroit artists get their work on the silver screen, including famed authors Jonathan Swift and Mitch Albom.
The event will also feature an advance screening for the pilot of the FX series "Justified," based on Elmore Leonard's "Fire in the Hole. A gala event will take place on Saturday night, with all proceeds going to the Community House. Tickets can be purchased by contacting The Community House, (248) 644-5832.
