Tax incentives approved by the Michigan Economic Growth Authority helped persuade 15 companies to choose to expand or relocate their business to Michigan, creating up to $205.2 million in private investment and retaining over 4,000 in-state jobs.
"The reinvention of Michigan starts
with great companies expanding their operations here and today’s actions
demonstrate our ability to attract new business opportunities, both traditional
and leading-edge, across a wide variety of industries," says Michael A.
Finney, President and CEO of the Michigan Economic Development Corporation
(MEDC).
Of those 15 companies, four chose to expand, retain, invest and create in Oakland County:
The
Benteler Automotive Corporation will spend $3.9 million over the next five years to retain its headquarters in Auburn Hills, while expanding operations around the state and creating 250 jobs. The company chose Michigan over competing sites in Alabama and South Carolina.
In another victory for Auburn Hills, automotive supplier
Faurecia Interior Systems, Ltd. announced it will expand its technical and customer support staff located in that city, while making a $19.3 million investment to its Fraser production facility.
Another incentive beneficiary is
KUKA Robotics Corporation, which supplies industrial robots for a variety of industries, including advanced medical and entertainment. After choosing Michigan over Georgia, they plan to invest $4.7 million in an Oakland County facility, which will retain 68 jobs.
In Rochester Hills,
WABCO North America LLC, a commercial vehicle supplier, will invest $2.2 million to create a new product development division. Choosing Oakland County over competing sites in Indiana and Illinois, the new project will create up to 100 new jobs.
