The Stoney Creek High School junior -- who one day hopes to create magical movie moments for a living -- is already being acclaimed for his visual wizardry on a big stage.

Childs, 17, recently won a national Gold Key in the Video and Film category in the 2009 National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. His top-prize entry, Stopmotion Adventure, is a dazzlingly energetic romp that showcases an impressive array of camera and editing skills.

"He's really advanced," said Stoney Creek art/video teacher Erica Davis-Hernandez. "He's probably the most advanced video student I've had since I've been at Stoney."
