Rochester Hills' AMC Star will undergo $4.2M renovation


With TV screens getting bigger and better, movie theaters in Oakland County are also getting a new look.

Emagine Rochester Hills will spend a whopping $4.2M to improve Rochester Hills' only first-run movie theater, the AMC Star. Though the theater will decrease total seating from 3,200 to about 1,900, viewers can expect wider aisles, bigger screens and more comfortable seats.

To appeal to patrons who might have theater systems in their homes, Emagine Rochester Hills will offer about 20 luxury seating spots in each theater. For an extra $2.50 per ticket, guests will be able to watch flicks from high-backed leather rockers with a table between every two chairs.
