Downtown Ferndale continues to grow in 2010

By almost any measure, 2010 was a good year for the city of Ferndale's downtown district.

Statistics compiled by the city's Downtown Development Authority show an 85% increase in investments from 2009 to 2010, along with 40 new businesses opening their doors in the city.

$7.8 million was invested in the downtown district in 2010, totaling $57.5 million worth of investments since the year 2000.

2010 saw many positives: the opening of a 7,000 square foot addition to the Ferndale Public Library, trendy eateries like Cantina Diablo's and Treat Dreams locating in the downtown area, and a full-service film production company called Cinema Grid locating in the retail district.

"Our entrepreneurs have done and continue to do an incredible job of cultivating the market and establishing and growing their base," says Cristina Sheppard-Decius, DDA Executive Director. "Each individual success contributes to the success of the entire district, making Downtown Ferndale a destination of choice for consumers at every age
and income."
