Beaumont and Covenant team up to open low-cost health clinic

More affordable health care is coming to Oakland County, and serving that need results in some unusual partnerships.

This latest news joins Covenant Community Care, a faith-based nonprofit that focuses on low-cost primary care, with Beaumont Hospital, as partners in a Federally Qualified health center in Royal Oak.

The Covenant Community Health Center will serve ill adults with or without health insurance, as well as providing obstetric and pediatric care, preventive care and immunizations.

While Covenant will operate and manage the center, Beaumont Hospital is much more than a silent partner -- providing some medical staff, $1.4 million in capital and financial support, plus in-kind donations, such as lab testing for patients.
