S3 Entertainment Group, one of Metro Detroit's big guns in the entertainment industry, is stepping in to take the reins of the Allen Park Studio Center.
The Ferndale-based firm, which helped make major movies like Gran Torino come to light, has entered into a preliminary long-term agreement with the city of Allen Park to manage operations and production development at the studio center. The studio has had its ups and downs since it was announced a few years ago. S3 Entertainment Group has been brought in to help make its growth steady and consistent.
The company already runs its own film studio complex in Madison Heights. It has extensive experience managing post production facilities, visual and special effects, grip, electric, and specialty equipment, set design/construction, and insurance/film finance, among other film-making aspects.
The Allen Park Studio Center is building two 20,000-square-foot stages for feature film and television production and one 12,000-square-foot stage for green screens and commercials in a large facility originally built for the auto industry. The complex will offer about 20,000 square feet of production office space and more than 40,000 square feet for film support company operations.
