Despite lots of bad news for the local economy, Comerica Bank Chief
Economist Dana Johnson predicts that Michigan will avoid falling into a
recession this year.
Excerpt:
“The U.S. economy is in the midst of some sort of soft landing, not a
hard landing, and that makes a world of difference for the Michigan
economy,” Johnson said today. “I’m assuming still that we’re not
heading for a recession here in 2007.”
