Micro Dose Life Sciences hires ex-Pfizer talent

When Pfizer closed its Ann Arbor campus, not all of the scientists flocked to Tree Town to open their own start-ups. A handful of them opened up Micro Dose Life Sciences in Farmington Hills in 2007.

"Most of us are Pfizer refugees," says Ken Massey, director of clinical research and operations for Micro Dose Life Sciences. "We had an opportunity to build something on our own and we're doing that."

Today, the firm that started with two people now employs 24, including half a dozen in Farmington Hills, and an intern. Most of the Farmington Hills employees are Pfizer refugees. The company expects to hire four more for its headquarters as it moves into new space before the summer is out. Another laboratory is also in the not-too-distant plans.

The company is weighing these options and more right now. It has a handful of venture capital opportunities for the compounds it's developing for anti-inflamatory and oncology medications.

"We've done pretty well," Massey says.
