Mainstreet Business Solutions brings IT to small businesses

Small is a key word in the vocabulary of Mainstreet Business Solutions. It's a small business with a small workforce focused on, in no small way, helping solve problems for other small businesses.

Solve IT problems that is. The Farmington Hills-based company works on tech consulting for businesses setting up IT resources. That means when a small business needs to set a server, it calls Mainstreet. If it needs software implemented or an IT project managed, Mainstreet makes that happen. The idea is to free up small business owners to do what they do best and leave all of the technical stuff to Mainstreet.

"There needs to be a high quality resource for small businesses to get the information they need," says Terry Oplinger, Jr., owner of Mainstreet Business Solutions.

He saw the need to start Mainstreet four years ago when he watched a lot of small businesses get poor consulting for their IT problems. The opportunity was to provide better, more personal service to small businesses often brushed aside by bigger companies.

Mainstreet is moving forward in a tough economy, forging new business relationship and keeping a few contractors busy. But Oplinger, Jr. hopes to hire a few employees when the economy picks up and gives his business a little breathing and growing room.

Until then he is just moving forward, one small step at a time.
