Livio Radio forms partnership with Grooveshark

Ferndale-based Livio Radio has its sights set on some big goals and far away places in 2011.

A first for the Internet radio electronics firm is capitalizing on a partnership with Florida-based Grooveshark. Livio Radio already has partnerships with Pandora and NPR to provide content for its Internet radios, so the deal with Grooveshark will make even more content available and open up a number of international markets.

In other projects, Livio Radio has produced an iPhone app and has grown its working relationship with the Gilt Group, a fashion-based start-up out of New York. And while
its Internet radios are traditionally for home or office use, the company is also developing products that work seamlessly with vehicle sound systems.

"We're going from home Internet radio to car radio," says Jake Sigal, founder of Livio Radio. "We're working with automakers to incorporate Internet radio into cars."

The 3-year-old company has added three positions in the last six months, expanding its staff to 15 people, including independent contractors and interns. It has three job openings right now and expects to hire up to five people in 2011 on projected revenue growth of 30 percent.
