Digital Roots moves to downtown Northville for urban amenities

Digital Roots has had its eye on moving to a downtown in Metro Detroit for a while. The 6-year-old company looked at Ann Arbor, Birmingham, Plymouth and just about every other name-brand downtown in southeast Michigan.

It made the decision to move into the Water Wheel Building in downtown Northville. It served as a nice halfway point for its general workforce in the tri-county area and its IT workforce, most of which calls Ann Arbor home.

"We really wanted to be in a downtown area," says Jay Wolcott, founder & CEO of Digital Roots.

The digital marketing firm has been growing exponentially in its first years, averaging a doubling of revenue each year. It has hired 13 people over the last year, expanding its workforce to 33 employees and four interns. It currently has six open positions ranging from IT professionals to account managers.

Digital Roots has developed its own social media software platform that helps its clients communicate with their customers through social media channels. Most of the company's growth is driven by this software.

"Our growth is really promising," Wolcott says. "Our customers are really starting to see the need of interacting with their customers in these channels."
