Digital Edge to help MI start-ups network, expand

If timing it everything then Digital Edge hopes to help make it the right time for a number of Michigan's website start-ups. The Facebook-like community for local entrepreneurs is growing at a steady clip and expects to surpass its membership goals for this year.

Sometimes it seems that the only thing keeping grand ideas from becoming grand businesses is the right connections.

Digital Edge plans to solve that problem in Michigan. The Ann Arbor-based non-profit works similarly to LinkedIn by connecting entrepreneurs with the wide range of resources in Michigan that they might not know are at their finger tips.

"Our focus is Michigan but primarily southeast Michigan," says Joe Minock, managing chair of Digital Edge. "The main goal is connecting the heads of web start-ups with the resources available throughout southeast Michigan from a business standpoint and an investment standpoint. It's literally like a MySpace or Facebook for Michigan."
