Jon Citrin isn't trying to be all things to all people in his career. He is just trying to be the best financial portfolio manager he can be. And given how much his company, CitrinGroup, is growing, he must be doing something right.
The downtown Birmingham-based financial firm has doubled the size of its staff over the last year, hiring three people. That's thanks to a growing client list and revenue that has gone up by 30-40 percent over the last year.
"We have been really focused over the last year,"
Citrin says. "That's what I always preach, be great at one thing instead of being good at many things.
CitrinGroup helps individuals maximize their investment portfolio by working to stay ahead of market trends instead of chasing them. Citrin expects this philosophy to help his company continue its double-digit growth this year and hire a few more people. He also is working to keep a steady stream of interns coming through his company. One of
CitrinGroup's recent interns was able to leverage his experience into a full-time job at Ford.
"We feel like it's a way to not only help the firm but help the community," Citrin says. "I teach at Wayne State University and it feels good to hep out students."
