Bluetrek sets up U.S. HQ in St. Clair Shores

Bluetrek is establishing a presence in the U.S. and it's doing it with a headquarters here in Metro Detroit.

Right now the wireless accessory company (think Bluetooth headsets) gets its software from California, product design from Europe, and manufacturing from Asia. It sells its products, the Crescendo and Metal Evolution, in Europe but is breaking into the North American market and is using the virtual office it established six months ago in St. Clair Shores as its base.

"We are starting to hire now in the U.S. because of the success we have been having," says John Haley, managing director of Bluetrek. "We will be looking for marketing and internal sales people."

He expects Bluetrek to set up actual office space in St. Clair Shores (close to freeways but removed from the crowds of the Metro area's business centers) and hire about a dozen people over the next year. That team will be responsible for spreading sales of the wireless accessories across the continent.

Bluetrek's two primary products are designed for smartphones. The Cresendo will read emails to its operator and look up information, such as directions, verbally on a Bing.com search. The Metal Evolution is designed specifically for the iPhone.
