Wyandotte buys Fogel's store for future development

City officials at Wyandotte have their sights set on the long term with the city's latest real-estate purchase.

Wyandotte bought the old storefront that currently houses Fogel's Furniture and the parking lot next door. The building is on Biddle Avenue in the center of downtown and is adjacent to the City Hall.

"We bought it because it's next to city hall and we hope there will be a development in the future," says James DeSana, mayor of Wyandotte. "

The 2-story building, like City Hall next to it, was originally built as a department store in the mid 20th Century. Fogel's moved in during the 1960s and has been there ever since. The long-time staple of downtown Wyandotte is set to go out of business later this year.
