City of Wyandotte buys multiple properties to market, redevelop

The City of Wyandotte has purchased the Church of Many Miracles, the Wyandotte Theater and six other vacant parcels and buildings in order to implement the new master plan they have drafted and attract new businesses to its downtown.

Betty Krimmel, who has owned the downtown women's clothing store Madelyn's for 25 years, said she likes what she has seen.

"They're all excellent decisions made by the mayor and the council. We should be doing these kinds of things," said Krimmel, a lifelong Wyandotte resident.

"We need affordable retail space. We have some vacancies in our downtown area, but unfortunately, rents are really prohibitive at this point."
