Northville weighs future development options

Northville officials are working with LSL Planning to help determine the appropriate future use for the northeast corner of Five Mile and Beck Roads.

Two camps of thought exist on plans for the Five Mile and Beck property.

One is to play the waiting game and hope that a successful firm will use it for office/technology developments, which bring more tax dollars to the township.

The property is currently zoned for that use.

The other camp recognizes that most developers, with the current economic climate, want to build commercial/retail projects, as these seem to be the generate the most revenue at this time.

"I think this is a very important decision for the township," said Bob Nix, planning commissioner.
