Most retailers are shaking in their boots these days. Not store owners in downtown Mt. Clemens, who are watching their retail community expand and hire.
Authorized Cellular, a locally owned company, is teaming up with the national franchise Wireless Zone. Part of this merger means more employees in downtown Mt. Clemens. So far nine people have been added and more are expected.
Downtown Mt. Clemens is home to the franchise’s flagship store, corporate offices, call center and customer support functions. Wireless Zone is also adding staff to the call center and customer support departments.
Wireless Zone is also expanding its retail presence in Metro Detroit, using downtown Mt. Clemens as a hub. There are new stores (old Authorized Cellular) in Grosse Pointe, Sterling Heights, Macomb Township, downtown Mount Clemens and Roseville. Two more stores are slated to open in Shelby Township and Roseville before the end of the year.
Brothers David and Greg Gagnon started Authorized Cellular 20 years ago.
