Renovations to the McKinley Towne Centre in downtown Ann Arbor are mostly complete and tenants are either moving in or have already taken their space as of January.
The office building at the corner of Division and Liberty streets will house Google’s Adwords division, the Bodman Law Firm and an array of restaurants and retail stores.
The building has 96,000 square feet of Class A office space of which Google will use 80,000 square feet as its temporary headquarters for its Adwords division, which sells advertising on the Internet search engine. Google expects to hire at least 1,000 people for its Adwords division in Ann Arbor over the next five years. Bodman Law Firm will also lease 14,000 square feet of office space.
Bar Louie, a martini bar, will open its second Michigan location in 5,700 square feet of retail space. Cingular Wireless, a cell phone company, has also opened a retail branch in 1,800 square feet of space. Salsa Rita’s, a Mexican-themed restaurant, will occupy 2,600 square feet of space. All of the business will be located on the ground floor.
About 6,000 square feet of restaurant space on the corner of Washington and Division streets is still available.
The building served as the headquarters for TCF Bank, which moved to Livonia, before McKinley Inc. bought it in 2005. McKinley has transformed the office building by adding commercial space to the ground floor and renovating the office space.
