Birmingham's McIntosh Poris wins architecture awards ...again

Birmingham-based McIntosh Poris Associates hit a home run at the Detroit Home Awards, winning multiple awards for the fourth year straight. The firm won Best Contemporary Interior Design and Best Residential Architecture, for two of its projects.

The Rubin Residence in West Bloomfield won for Best Residential Architecture. The partially subterranean 6,000-square-foot hillside home used its living room/great room to set it apart. It did this by combining the living room, kitchen, dining room, breakfast nook and television room but using furnishings to separate them instead of walls.

The firm's other winning residence was the Breck Loft (Grinnell Place Lofts in Detroit's Corktown neighborhood) winning three awards in Best Contemporary Interior Design. The 1,500-square-foot former piano warehouse won praise with its master suite and 94-square-foot bathroom.

McIntosh Poris specializes in urban design services for institutional, commercial and residential projects. The firm has scored hits with more than 100 residential, mixed-use commercial, institutional and arts projects in Michigan, California, Connecticut, New York, Toronto, and Illinois.
