Kercheval Place is taking another big step forward by making room for three new businesses. Two financial firms and a yoga studio are moving into downtown Grosse Pointe's signature development.
The tenants will occupy much of the second floor office space of the building at the corner of Kercheval and Notre Dame streets. Trader Joe's is also expected to open its doors on the ground floor next month.
Stifel Nicolaus, a brokerage and investment banking firm, moved into its new space at Kercheval Place in mid December. It had relocated from Grosse Pointe Farms. Becker Ventures, a private holding company out of Troy, also plans to relocate into 7,000 square feet of space this spring. Yoga Shelter, a new yoga based fitness center, will set up shop above the Trader Joe's store this spring.
These businesses join the development's anchor retail tenants, such as Jos. A. Bank, Coldwater Creek and Ann Taylor Loft. Kercheval Place also opened its new parking garage facing Notre Dame earlier this year to downtown business patrons and employees.
All of these businesses are opening in the old Jacobson's building, which had been vacant for a number of years before the city recently headed up redevelopment efforts to breathe new life into its downtown.
