The Kercheval Place
project in downtown Grosse Pointe is one big step closer toward finishing now
that its new parking garage is complete and open to the public. The new Village Municipal Parking Structure
has 244 spaces and is on Notre
Dame, right behind the main storefront
space of the development. Workers demolished an old parking structure early
last summer and built a new one in its place using precast pieces of concrete.
Kercheval Place
is one of the Village shopping district's signature projects. It's redeveloping an
old, vacant two-story Jacobson's store on Kercheval. Among the retailers
occupying the 37,000 square feet of space is Trader Joe's, Jos. A. Bank, Coldwater
Creek and Ann Taylor Loft.
The renovation of the old Jacobson's store
is expected to play a major part in revitalizing the Village. It will fill a major void left when Jacobson's left that building
empty several years ago.
